Project Pythia is an open-source, community-driven educational platform designed to help geoscientists adopt Python-based tools for analyzing large, complex datasets. The Cookbook contains three chapters: (a) an introduction to GDEX; (b) a description of, and examples for, the various data access services provided by GDEX; and (c) example workflows that demonstrate how to access and analyze GDEX data using the Open Science Data Federation (OSDF).

The following link provides a repository of notebook-based reference examples showing how to access and analyze data from selected GDEX datasets. These examples are intended for all users, whether or not they have access to NSF NCAR HPC resources. GDEX users are also invited to contribute their own data access and analysis examples to this repository.
GDEX ExamplesOpen OnDemand at NSF NCAR
The Open OnDemand platform is now available for users with NSF NCAR HPC computing allocations. Open OnDemand (OOD) is a web-based HPC portal that provides access to NSF NCAR's computing resources, including launching an interactive Jupyter Lab session, through an intuitive graphical user interface.
Open OnDemand may be accessed at https://ondemand.hpc.ucar.edu/
The platform allows users to run a Jupyter Lab application or VS Code server, and also includes means to assess current job statuses, submit jobs, open a shell, start a VNC or remote desktop session (Casper only). All from a web browser. Please review the documentation pages for OOD here for more information.

NSF NCAR's Community Compute Services can be used to access and process GDEX data for users with NSF NCAR HPC computing allocations. Select the link below for more information on how to connect with and use the JupyterHub resources at NSF NCAR. The JupyterHub deployment that CISL manages allows "push-button" access to NSF NCAR's Derecho supercomputing resource and the Casper cluster of nodes used for data analysis and visualization, machine learning, and deep learning.
